About The Medicine Show

Medicine shows were touring acts, which peddled "miracle cure" patent medicines and other products between various forms of entertainment. They developed from European mountebank shows and were common in the United States in the nineteenth century, especially in the old west. They usually promoted "miracle elixirs,” which, it was claimed, had the ability to cure disease, smooth wrinkles, remove stains, prolong life or cure any number of common ailments. Most shows had their own patent medicine. Entertainment included magic tricks, storytelling, acrobats, muscle men, magicians, ventriloquists, exotic dancers, and trick shots.

Like the Arthurian tales of old, The Medicine Show aims to inspire trust that the higher destiny of humanity can be reached and that each of us plays a critical role. The story depicts the power of observation and choice experienced by Levi York as he investigates how to become worthy of a place at the cosmic Round Table.

The Medicine Show is a literary peasant hut which has been constructed out of the ancient stone foundation of a long forgotten monument. Collected fragments of oral traditions folk tales and allegory reveal the inspired path toward the inevitable reconciliation of all polarities.

The Medicine Show will act as a device for orienting the direction of our endeavors. The story is delivered in a pictorial language, using symbolism to speak directly to the soul of humanity. As we learn to handle the responsibilities of cosmic adulthood, humans are discovering that our empowerment can impose either rapid growth or the self-destruction.
