A.) Tech and media giants have lost the public’s trust.

B.) The high cost of producing traditional and computer generated animated films has made them prohibitively high-risk

investments in the past.

.

A.) A socially conscious start-up that blends entrepreneurialism with a cooperative model to pioneer an alternative to monopolistic concentrations of wealth and power.

B.) Artificial Intelligence transforms the rotoscoping/motion capture  animation process, which uses live-action video as a reference, lowering production costs by a wide margin. Origin Unknown will generate some of the first animated feature films and episodic series which make artistic use of artificial intelligence.

The Medicine Show dramatizes the damaging effects of the 1890s patent medicine boom, which employed medicine shows and newspaper advertising to market addictive opium laced tonics before ingredient labeling was required. In addition to tracing the roots of the modern opioid epidemic, the project also draws attention to the covered up history of medical cannabis which was the fourth most proscribed medicine during the turn of the century.

Exit 42 examines the full spectrum of conspiracy theories, lifestyles and alternative perspectives that lie outside of the mainstream culture. The novel/screenplay contains an eccentric character whose poetry manifesto offers a roadmap to a balanced human society. The main character passes the document off to a powerful oligarch whose conscience is bothering him, providing a playful depiction of how systemic reform begins with individual decisions.

Upstream explores the twentieth century through the sense of the era’s most prolific filmmaker whose deceptively simple radical universality is yet to be fully identified and appreciated. By telling Ford’s story, as a world renowned director and early member of the OSS, (the precursor to the CIA) the book uncovers the hidden truths of the second world war which have been suppressed by the main-stream media and academia.

The Medicine Show  (Comedy/Drama Episodic Series)
Levi York does not fit in among the regular doctors of the 1890s, with their mercury treatments and bloodletting, nor is he at home amidst the traveling medicine men peddling opium tonics to the poor and unsuspecting.

Exit 42 (Comedy/Drama Novel & Screenplay)

Emis Martin takes the wrong exit while driving along a remote highway and stumbles into a parallel universe where everyone he meets is off-the-grid and believe they have freed themselves from all cultural conditioning.

Upstream (Non-fiction Biographic/History Manuscript)

Upstream looks at the hidden clues that unlock the enigmatic nuances of John Ford’s life and work. The book paints a portrait of Hollywood’s golden era and the twentieth century through Ford’s lens while highlighting biographical turning points and patterns that explain his relevance to history and the current political climate.

Quibi was a streaming platform that cost $2 Billion to launch yet failed to capture the youthful demographic it targeted and collapsed after less than a year. Young audiences are suspicious of content that is not generated by their peers, making it increasingly difficult for large corporations to engage them. The bankruptcy of Vice Media, which provided mildly outspoken content, offers another example of this generational disconnect. A large underserved demographic of discerning audiences, young and old, are rejecting major media outlets in favor of independent content creators world-wide.

OU’s commitment to artistic integrity and ethical business standards will help us stand-out from the faux populism being presented by entrenched financial interests.

The centerpiece of OU’s slate is a comedy/drama series entitled The Medicine Show, which will be produced using AI-assisted rotoscoping/motion capture animation tools that emphasize the human touch. The script for the first season of fifteen hour-long episodes is complete. The same approach will be used to produce a feature film entitled Exit 42, based upon a novel and screenplay of the same name. Early adopters of our brand will participate in the development and marketing of these projects through our interactive online community of supporter.

Our modestly budgeted animated films will act as finished products, as well as proof-of-concept prototypes for future live-action productions. OU will also produce educational podcasts related to the themes addressed in The Medicine Show and Exit 42. Other forms of ancillary content, such as live-readings and comedic behind-the-scenes sketches will help build our online presence and set the tone for the OU brand. We are also planning a podcast and documentary series based upon a non-fiction book entitled: Upstream: The Legend of Sean Aloysius O’Ferna, alias John Ford  which examines the iconic director’s legacy, Hollywood’s golden era and twentieth-century history.
